Head Chef at Bohemia Bar & Restaurant, Shaun Rankin, has been listed as “one to watch” in the acclaimed Good Food Guide 2009 Top 40 list. Hailed as a “hugely accomplished talent cooking at the top of his game”, the publication places Bohemia as the 17th top restaurant in the UK.
Shaun Rankin was listed alongside what Good Food Guide Editor, Elisabeth Carter, described as a crop of exciting British talent who are the most likely contenders for the top spots in the future. All described as having enormous talent, they were portrayed as the next Blumenthal or Ramsay, who currently hold first and second positions in the Top 40 list.
“These are exciting times for the UK restaurant scene with some really talented young chefs emerging who could go all the way to the top,” said Elisabeth Carter. Bohemia was further described as having demonstrated a high level of ambition and individuality, attention to the smallest detail and accurate and vibrant dishes.
“We are thrilled with this incredible achievement. Being ranked 17th out of the top 1200 restaurants in the Guide is evidence of the immensely hard work and remarkable commitment and talent of the entire Bohemia kitchen and the Bohemia front of house team, which contribute to creating the extraordinary dining experience that Bohemia and the Club Hotel & Spa offer”, says Lawrence Huggler, Managing Director of The Club Hotel & Spa.
Bohemia Bar & Restaurant has celebrated the reception of a string of accolades this year. In January it was announced that it had retained its coveted Michelin Star and in July it was named as the 26th Best Restaurant in the UK in Eat Out Magazine’s top 100 restaurants list.
